Baseball Cards:Then and now at the Missouri River Regional Library Art Gallery

7-8:30 p.m.Longtime card collector Terry Farmer will talk briefly about the origins of sporting premiums as inserts in early candy and tobacco products in the late- 19th century but will focus primarily on post- World War II cards, the competition among manufacturers vying for kids’ spending power, the tactics used to appeal to markets, the nuances in the cards themselves, and why some cards are still worth a lot while others aren’t worth much of anything.
